Paul Thornton is a legendary Portland-based roast master and green coffee buyer with over 40 years of experience. He is well recognized in the world of coffee, both locally and nationally. In 2016, he stepped away from a long career buying, managing and roasting for others to finally pursue his dream of a family coffee business, Thornton Family Coffee Roasters. With Paul’s strong connection to family in mind, I leaned into the notion of a family crest for the initial brand and marketing elements for this burgeoning company. Business cards, an overview brochure, bag labels, a website and exterior retail graphics lead the enterprise. In time, the brand was quickly expanded to service items, wearable swag, vehicle graphics and most recently, packaging for a newly developed cold brew product. The company continues to thrive and grow, recently partnering with Tillamook Creamery as their premier coffee at the Tillamook Market in the Portland Airport.
